Use of Force & Video/Camera Policy
It is the policy of the Fox Crossing Police Department that officers shall use only the amount of force that is reasonably necessary to achieve a lawful objective. The force shall be in accordance with the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin.
The Fox Crossing Police Department prides itself in transparency as it relates to calls for service, citizen complaints, and use of force documentation. We feel this information is important to maintain trust within our community.

A Citizen Complaint/Compliment form (FCPD-73) has been made available on this webpage for easy access. All complaints will be investigated thoroughly by the Police Department Administration or Police Lieutenants and upon completion will be notified of the outcome of the investigation.
Filing a false complaint is a violation of §946.66 Wisconsin Statutes. Whoever knowingly makes a false complaint regarding the conduct of a law enforcement officer is subject to a Class A forfeiture punishable by a fine up to $10,000.
Active Threat Mitigation
April 20, 1999, is a day that changed many lives in the United States. It was that day when two students entered Columbine High School in Colorado and began assassinating students at will. It was this event that brought school safety and police tactics back to the training table and dramatically changed the way schools and law enforcement operated. It also brought the term Active Shooter into our homes and vernacular. Since that day we have been witness to over 170 active shooter events in the United States, some at places one would never think of like schools, churches, movie theaters, and parks, and some in communities where “that stuff does not happen,” like Antigo, Weston, Oak Creek, and Menasha.
While there is no single, fool-proof method, there are several well-established security principles that can provide a strong foundation for mitigating and reducing these situations.

The Village of Fox Crossing Police Department annually publishes a report highlighting some of the accomplishments over the past year as well as reviewing the crime statistics and calls for service.
Nuisance Abatement
In an effort to reduce the number of repeat or chronic nuisance calls, we have developed the chronic nuisance program and ordinance. This effort focuses on education and cooperation with our property owners to maintain the high quality of life that we all value. This program was recognized as a finalist for the 2008 Sir Robert Peel award by the Wisconsin Association of Community Oriented Police. Prescription Drug Abuse
The Fox Crossing Police Department spearheaded a coalition of law enforcement, pharmacists, citizens, educators and juvenile workers to combat the rise in prescription drug abuse and the crimes associated with this growing trend. In an effort to increase communication with our residents, businesses and visitors, the Fox Crossing Police Department maintains a presence on social media platforms such as Facebook, X, YouTube. We also communicate weekly with our neighborhood residents, media, neighborhood watch groups and businesses via a crime blotter sent out via e-mail. The WI Statewide VINE System is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notification when the offender’s custody status changes. The VINE toll-free number for the WI Statewide VINE system is 888-868-4631. This service is provided to assist Victims of Crime who have a right to know about their offender’s custody status.
