2011 Wisconsin Act 23 requires all voters to show a photo ID before receiving a ballot, at all regular and special elections.
Whether voting at the polls on Election Day, in-person at the Clerk’s Office, or receiving an absentee ballot by mail (only the first time), you must provide a photo ID.
Click here for Voter Photo ID Law information and acceptable photo ID that can be used. Anyone who does not have a state driver license or state ID card may obtain one free for voting purposes at the WI Department of Motor Vehicle.

Military, permanent overseas and confidential electors are also exempt from the photo ID law.
