winter - overnight parking ordinance
Parking on Village of Fox Crossing public roadways overnight is seasonally restricted per Village Ordinance 364-4(c). The Village does not permit overnight parking on all public roadways between November 1 – April 1 from 2AM-5AM in order to allow effective, unobstructed plow operation and snow removal during this period of little to no vehicular traffic. (During the months of April – October overnight parking is permitted.) A snow emergency can be issued when snow is falling in such a manner as to produce a congestion of traffic or impede the operation of emergency vehicles. In the event of a declared snow emergency, parking on Village roadways is prohibited until the emergency is deemed over.
Permission can be granted, through the authority of the Police Department, to allow residents and visitors to temporarily park on the roadway during these times. To request permission, please fill out the form linked below. You may request overnight parking for up to ten (10) dates per calendar month. As a general guideline, if there is expected heavy snowfall or poor road conditions that requires snow plow removal of snow and/or salting operations, overnight parking will NOT be allowed. Parking requests are currently received by our Communications Technicians during hours of operation, Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:00PM. We ask that you submit your parking requests in a timely manner so as to allow adequate time to process the submission.
snow removal on sidewalks
The owner and occupant of any lot or parcel in the Village abutting upon a public sidewalk shall, within 24 hours after the cessation of any storm during which snow has fallen, remove or cause to be removed from the portion of such sidewalk abutting his property all snow and ice which accumulated thereon. When ice or snow has formed on any sidewalk such that it cannot be immediately removed, said sidewalk shall be sprinkled with salt, sand or some other form of acceptable deicing material.
depositing of snow on public right-of-way
No person shall remove or caused to be removed any snow or ice from a premises owned or occupied by that person or from any residence, parking lot, parking area, filling station, business property or other property owned or occupied by said person by placing said snow onto the traveled portion of any public right-of-way, including paths and walkways. Snow removed from public walks shall not be stored in any manner which shall obstruct or limit vehicular or pedestrian vision, movement or access.
